Hotel Montemerlo
For some time now we have been working towards reducing the environmental impact of our hotel on our surroundings.
Our surrounding environment on Elba is of great importance and recently the institution of a National Park has aided the safeguard of this gift of nature.
Our hotel is structured in four different buildings of no more than two floors, well integrated into the surrounding mediterranean scrub which surrounds it.
In following with this philosophy we have also undertaken other projects such as:
- the installation of special showers which save up to 50% water
- the improvement of our refuse collection system
- the increase in use of energy saving lightbulbs
In fact we have renewed our existing 1983 solar panels with a state of the art model (Buderus - Germany).
This investment, which is very considerable for a small business like ours, will enable us to almost completely eliminate our need for comubustible fules for the supply of hot water and heating.
It also allows us to produce a very small amount of electricity.
